BEST PRACTICES

The institute has adopted many best practices for quality such as,

BEST PRACTICE 01: InnovateRx : Empowering Research Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Best Practice in Research and Development at the pharmaceutical sciences institute outlines a comprehensive approach to fostering a vibrant research culture. With objectives ranging from creating an innovative environment to generating funds and producing quality publications, the institute is deeply entrenched in its role as an approved research center. The context emphasizes the institute's commitment to exploring various pharmaceutical fields, backed by highly qualified faculty and motivated students. Notably, the focus on researching novel neurotransmitters, well-equipped departments, and a commitment to ethical considerations in animal protocols contributes to the institute's robust research framework.

The implemented practices include a vigilant research committee, continuous monitoring of research work, and the use of anti-plagiarism software. The commitment to transparency is evident through mandatory certification of originality, and seminars/workshops that enhance both theoretical and practical skills. The evidence of success is substantial, with a multitude of publications, presentations, citations, research grants, and awards, reflecting the institute's impact on pharmaceutical sciences. However, the summary also highlights challenges, particularly the need for multidisciplinary research and increased funding, along with the recognition of the potential for generating income through consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry. Overall, the institute's Research and Development Best Practice showcases a successful and dynamic approach to advancing pharmaceutical research.

BEST PRACTICE 02: CareerReady & LifeReady : Campus Initiatives through Training and Placement Cell and Heartfullness Activities

Smt. Kishoritai Bhoyar College of Pharmacy in Kamptee has implemented a comprehensive strategy through its Training and Placement Cell and Heartfulness activities to prepare students for a seamless transition from academia to the corporate world. Recognizing the specific skill set and mindset required for pharmaceutical industry roles, the college focuses on industrial exposure, soft skills development, internships, partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, and HR-related activities. The Training & Placement Cell engages in unique initiatives like "Dhruv" for aptitude development and "SKB Lupin Pharmaoogle" for industry expert-led training. MoUs with pharmaceutical companies, placement drives, and the "Pharma HR Conclave" further bridge the gap between academia and industry, resulting in over 90% of students securing placements in reputable multinational corporations.

Additionally, the college's collaboration with the Heartfulness Institute provides students and staff with tools for stress management, joy, and life fulfillment. As a Heartful Campus, the institution conducts various workshops enhancing students' learning skills, emotional maturity, confidence, and self-awareness. The success of these initiatives is evident in the college's platinum category ranking, recognition in prestigious awards, students securing paid internships, and active participation in international conferences. The holistic approach has made students more employable, confident, and joyful, showcasing the college's commitment to preparing students not just for their professional careers but also for a resilient and fulfilling life beyond academics.

The detailed report for the above written practices is as follows:

GATEway to Success: GPAT Prep Initiative

Institute provides facility in terms of GPAT lectures from inhouse and guest faculty members for final year students; book for MCQs, Regular Tests with negative marking. Two weekly tests are conducted on the topic covered in that week. It has resulted into consistent good results from last decade. Students were also prepared for NIPER-JEE entrance. Many of the qualified students got admitted into NIPERs, IIT-BHU, ICT, Govt. Institutes and many premium NIRF ranked institutes. The institute consistently strives to motivate students to participate in national and international eligibility exams, encompassing GPAT/GATE, while also providing support for CAT/CMAT, GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS. A well-structured programmed preparation, initiated from the pre-final year, has been implemented to enhance students' performance in GPAT, contributing to a higher percentage of students choosing advanced education upon completing their respective courses.

Synergetic Bonds: Mentorship Marvels (Mentor-Mentee Relationship)

A mentor serves as a guiding force, assisting mentees in navigating the right path and devising solutions to career-related challenges. In our college, we have established a robust mentorship system based on this approach. Each mentor is assigned to a group of 20 students for a year, diligently addressing various aspects outlined in a proforma. The mentorship extends beyond academic concerns, encompassing internal marks, laboratory performance, and delving into non-academic facets such as students' hobbies and aspirations, providing counselling when needed.

Our college has instituted several committees, including the internal complaint committee, grievance redressal committee, and sexual harassment committee, working collaboratively with mentors to address student issues comprehensively. Communication lines are established among subject teachers, guardian teachers, mentors, academic coordinators, and the Principal to ensure a holistic resolution for any arising matter concerning students. The mentor meticulously maintains data related to their mentees throughout the year, facilitating a seamless transfer of information to the next mentor in the subsequent academic session.

Ecobotanical Synergy: Charak Vatika Collaboration

A unique Memorandum of Understanding was established on August 8, 2016, between The Pench Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation in Nagpur and Smt. Kishoritai Bhoyar College of Pharmacy, New Kamptee, Nagpur, for a collaborative project focusing on the creation and maintenance of four 'Herbal and Medicinal Plant Nurseries.' Under the guidance of our Principal, Dr. Milind J. Umekar, Mr. R. N. Alaspure, Associate Professor, and Dr. Renuka Das, Assistant Professor, are actively working alongside personnel from the Forest Department of Maharashtra to expedite the project.

Objectives:

1. Develop a Herbal garden featuring a diverse range of medicinal plant species.

2. Provide each plant with a detailed description, including local name, botanical name, medicinally useful parts, chemical constituents, and their uses.

3. Monitor and ensure the proper maintenance of both the Herbal Garden and Nursery.

4. Create a sustainable source of income for local villagers through the initiative.

5. Disseminate knowledge about indigenous herbal plants.

6. Supply plants to facilitate timely research on herbal and medicinal plants.

7. Encourage and provide medicinal plants to nearby farmers, promoting medicinal plant farming to enhance the commercial viability of their crops and enabling trade with industries.

Four locations have been earmarked for establishing Herbal and Medicinal Plant Gardens and Nurseries: Sillari, Chorbauli, Nagalwadi in the Pench Tiger Reserve area, and Karandla in the Umred Karandala Wildlife Sanctuary. Once these medicinal gardens are developed, they will be entrusted to the Economic Development Committees (EDCs) of villages in the tiger reserve's buffer zone. The college will train EDC members to manage the gardens and provide information to visiting tourists, thereby creating a source of livelihood for the local community. The college will oversee the maintenance of these gardens and offer regular guidance.

Feedback Forge: Revolutionizing Input with Pharma Court

The Pharma Court has been a revered and esteemed event at our institute since the academic year 2004-05. Each academic year presents students with the challenge of adapting to new subjects, various teachers, diverse behaviours, attitudes, concepts, egos, and potential misunderstandings. Unanswered questions and situations of this nature can create discomfort and hinder students' overall development and academic progress.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining a clear and transparent environment among students, non-teaching staff, teaching staff, and even up to the Principal, we believe it is crucial for overall development on both sides to address any trifles in a fruitful manner. In our democratic system, the proven and respected solution is through a judicial system, where both sides have equal opportunities to present and prove their stand. The intellectual authority then arrives at a solution after considering all possible aspects of the issue. Therefore, we have established a structured procedure for the Pharma Court:

  • Constitution of Pharma Court Committee.
  • Receiving charges in a sealed Pharma Court box seven days before the court.
  • Sorting out the charges by the committee and assigning responsibilities.
  • Delivering summonses at least 24 hours before the commencement of the court.

Court Staff:

  • Hon. Judge: A senior student with good manners, cultured behaviour, intellectual acumen, a strong presence of mind, and social awareness.
  • Lawyer: A student with knowledge and awareness related to the respective problem.
  • Other supporting staff.Top of Form

Deciding Together: The Pivotal Role of SKBCOP Student Council

The Student Council at SKBCOP is a dynamic and integral body that has played a pivotal role in the mutual growth of students and the institute since its inception. Reconstituted annually through a nomination and selection process based on interviews and merit criteria, the council serves as a platform for learning and implementing management, leadership, and teamwork skills. It provides students with insights into practicing a structured and systematic culture. Positions within the council are allocated to each class, ensuring broad participation.

Functioning as a key player in decision-making, suggestions, and initiative implementations from students, staff, and administration, the Student Council at SKBCOP holds a significant role. The council executes its programs through working committees for various events and activities, utilizing funds deposited in the current account by students. It collaborates closely with the student grievance and feedback committee, playing a decisive role in issue resolution. The programs organized by the council span from collegiate to national levels, encompassing cultural, scientific, and social activities throughout the calendar and expanding with each session across all domains.

Notably, the National PHARMAQUIZ and PHARMAFESTIVAL conducted annually have become highly competitive and inspirational platforms under the council's leadership. Personality contests, debates, dramas, and mime performances provide avenues for talent expression and foster teamwork among students. The unique PHARMACAMP set in a natural location, coupled with the innovative idea of PHARMACOURT, serves as a valuable interface for direct teacher-student interaction, leading to joyous resolutions and creative output. The council ensures the celebration of diverse religions through its events. The initiatives undertaken by the council to date have proven significant in instilling national values, promoting social empathy, and fostering scientific competitiveness among the students of our institute.

Co-operative store

Smt. Kishoritai Bhoyar College of Pharmacy in Kamptee has initiated a novel project to provide students with convenient access to a diverse range of materials tailored to their needs. Governed entirely by the Pharmacy Student Council, the Co-operative Store is centrally located on the college premises, ensuring easy accessibility for all students, including those pursuing diplomas, degrees, and master's programs. The primary objective behind establishing this all-in-one shop is to offer students immediate access to essential items, ranging from basic stationery like pencils to well-equipped duffel bags.

Given the institute's remote location within Kamptee, away from the city center, students often face challenges in acquiring necessities such as record books, journals, notebooks, and various laboratory requirements, including items like butter paper, droppers, surgical needles and blades, napkins, dissection instruments, and engineering scales. Professional courses demand dedicated time and effort from both faculty and staff, and having these facilities readily available on-site can significantly simplify the educational process. With students spending the majority of their day at the college and facing challenges in exploring the market or city, the Co-operative Store addresses these concerns by providing a one-stop solution. This initiative aims to enhance students' enthusiasm for studying and engaging in a comprehensive manner by offering convenient access to essential supplies.
